The Watchers 2024 Reviews. A young artist gets stranded in an extensive, immaculate forest in western ireland, where, after finding shelter, she becomes trapped alongside three strangers, stalked by mysterious creatures each night. The watchers is at its best in its opening sequence, which follows a man (we later learns he’s the husband of ciara, one of the four mains) making his way through the woods at dusk.
Folk horror never fulfills the promise of intriguing premise. With “the watchers”, shyamalan weaves psychological and folk horror together into a movie that seems to draw from a number of inspirations.
